This beach vacation home was designed by the Australian architects Ashton Raggatt McDougall. Its concept is defined by a striking symbol: the whole house is designed around the letter "K", which is why it is known as the K-house. Built for a family whose name begins with the same letter, the house feels large and open while keeping a minimalist exterior. On the ground floor, an outdoor living area can be covered and used in all weather conditions. Beside it is a large garage. The ground floor also contains a soundproof home theater, two bedrooms, a bathroom, a cellar, and storage space.

The home features a modern kitchen with cabinetry, a pantry, and a solid sliding door, but the centerpiece is a floor-to-ceiling red K-shaped shelf that can hold more than 5,000 books. It is a dream library for book lovers. The K-shaped support is the special element that gives the interior its character, and a shelf in this form feels fresh and original. It is an exceptionally clever idea.
