Two talented designers from Ukraine, Svyatoslav Zbroy and Dmitri Bulgakov of ODESD2 Design Studio, designed the Q1 chaise lounge. The design was inspired by geodesic domes, spherical structures based on a substructure of triangles. Richard Buckminster Fuller developed the technology in the 1940s and popularized the term "geodesic." These domes are known for their load-bearing capacity and stability. They also offer advantages such as efficient distribution, air circulation and beautiful lighting effects.
The Q1 Chaise Lounge Resembles a Geodesic Dome
Q1 chaise design mimics the properties of a geodesic dome: it can withstand heavy loads while appearing relatively light at first glance. The inside of the chair is padded with felt and chenille. Hollow fiber is used as the filling material, an environmentally friendly plastic that can maintain its shape better than conventional fillers. The spherical form of the chair provides comfort, while its appearance makes it versatile enough for both public interiors and modern residential spaces.
