A Straw-Bale Urinal Provides an Eco-Friendly Alternative to Chemical Toilets
Music festivals are wonderful, but the same problem appears again and again: the toilets are crowded. Faltazi offers a simple answer by attaching a plastic urinal to a bale of straw with straps. A small tube is inserted deep into the bale and channels the liquid inside. The nitrogen in urine combines with the carbon in the straw and begins the composting process. After 6 to 12 months, nutrient-rich compost is produced and can be used for planting the following year. The straw urinal has several advantages over traditional chemical toilets: it reduces water use, lowers transport and sanitation costs, and can be installed easily on site.
Straw-Bale Urinal Helps Produce Compost
The straw urinal is available in two versions. The first is made of plastic and ships flat, so it can be folded and mounted on straw bales on site. The second model is ready-made in stainless steel and can withstand bad weather. After the event is over, the urinals can be transported to another site, while the straw can be taken to a composting facility and used by local farmers after several months. There is also the possibility of replanting the straw bales and using them as decoration at the festival the following year.
