“Forever House” is a modern family home designed by Longhi Architects for a young couple in La Molina, Lima, Peru. The clients wanted a house where they could live for the rest of their lives. The commission gave the architect an excellent opportunity to create striking contemporary architecture. The team interpreted the family’s dreams in this unusual concept and built what the architect described as a “container of life.”
Modern Detached House with Floating Terraces
The architect’s vision for the house became clear when he first visited the site and realized that an old house, where the couple lived with their two sons, already stood there. The task was therefore to demolish the existing structure while preserving its spirit. The project metaphor was to imagine a large ancestral rock found on the site, carved to accommodate all the spaces of family life.
Modern Detached House with Asymmetric Architecture
The ground level of the family home contains a four-car garage, terraces, service areas, a swimming pool, the kitchen, dining room and living room. The spaces seem to be carved into the stone, and much of the furniture is built in. The rich stone texture works beautifully with the other natural and artificial materials in the house and contrasts with the glass elements. To complete the composition, the black stone base supports four spectacular floating volumes that contain the private rooms.
