Two large sculptures of flowers recently decorated a park in Mexico City. The famous Japanese floral artist Makoto Azuma once again showed his talent, creating arrangements that delighted tourists and local visitors.
Beautiful flower sculptures in the heart of the big city
As part of an art exhibition, Japanese floral artist Makoto Azuma arranged two sculptures of flowers. Placed at the entrance to the city park, the sculptures welcomed tourists and locals alike. The park is one of the city’s largest green spaces and is known for ten large vessels, eight in bronze and two in marble. Azuma used the marble vases for his flower arrangements. The first was inspired by Mexico and combined native plants with exotic flowers. Its joyful composition reflected the temperament of Mexico beautifully. The second project was inspired by Japan; made entirely of green plants, it reflected the country’s minimalist aesthetic.

Mexico and Japan are far apart, but the two cultures share a deep respect for nature. The sculptures made from flowers by the Japanese floral artist symbolize the bond between people and the natural world. His arrangements have inspired many artists around the world. As part of the exhibition, Azuma also organized a one-week workshop, presenting interesting new techniques to more than 40 participants.
