Interior Design

Aquarium Bar is a modern nightclub and bar interior designed by Next Level Studio. Located in the courtyard of an older building, the project transformed a former terrace area by renewing the walls, floor, ceiling, and technical systems for a contemporary hospitality space.

Because the bar is surrounded by other buildings, natural light is limited and the original roof opening became an important feature. The design therefore relies on light, reflection, and movement to create a strong atmosphere inside.

Aquarium Bar With Playful Lighting

At the beginning of the project, the investors and architects worked with the idea of a bar inspired by fountains and water. That concept led naturally to the Aquarium Bar name and to an interior shaped by flowing forms, changing colors, and shimmering reflections.

The main lighting element behaves like a luminous wave. Its colors shift across the room, giving the otherwise compact interior a sense of depth and motion.

The bar itself is kept mostly in black and white, allowing the lighting to become the dominant decorative feature. The contrast between matte and glossy surfaces strengthens the effect, while the wave-like ceiling installation links the different parts of the room.

The Lighting Structure

The ceiling combines colored light, glass, and a carefully planned supporting structure. Narrow slots guide the light through a series of glass tubes, while optical fibers and reflectors add depth and shimmer. The rhythm and color changes are controlled electronically, turning the installation into a central part of the bar experience.

Parametric Design Tools

The lighting was developed with parametric design tools. Dimensions, curves, glass positions, and the number of light tubes could be adjusted during the process, allowing the designers to refine the shape and define the required lengths with precision.

The new name is reinforced by a six-meter aquarium built into the main wall. Together, the water, lighting, and reflective surfaces compensate for the lack of street views and become the defining features of the interior.

The bar front includes fine mesh and integrated LED strips that change color with the atmosphere of the room. The result is a fresh, immersive space where technical design and playful visual effects work together.
