This small two-bedroom apartment is located in an old residential building in a prestigious area of Stockholm. A good location is always a great advantage, but like many old buildings, this apartment urgently needed renovation. The small windows did not bring enough light into the rooms, the floorboards had been painted several times and no longer looked attractive, and the white bathroom tiles were still usable but the grout had turned dark. Another problem was that the two rooms were crowded with furniture. The buyer faced the challenge of giving the new home a modern, simple look with minimal expense. Necessity is the mother of invention, so the homeowners made a clear renovation plan. First, the walls and floorboards were painted white, making the rooms look larger and brighter. The bathroom tiles were cleaned and re-grouted in anthracite. New furniture was then purchased: the room was furnished with a simple black kitchenette, a small sofa, and a dining table with chairs. A new brass shower was installed, and a wardrobe was added in the bathroom. Small accents, such as a self-made coffee table from wooden pallets, give the interior a rustic touch. Decoration is used sparingly, mainly with industrial-style accessories, posters, and signs.
