Odessa, The Restaurant Signed a Yod Design in Ukraine

28/10/2013 – The inhabitants of Kiev have known the Odessa restaurant since 1962. Odessa is the name of a city on the Black Sea in southern Ukraine, a former Greek colony and famous spa center. The restaurant redesign by YOD Design Labaims not only to reproduce the spirit of this city of unique charm, but also to refresh the image of the place.

The main space is at the restaurant entrance and is marked by an unusual installation of thirty kilometers of rubber bands descending from the ceiling. At night, lighting falls to the ground and creates images on the ropes, emphasizing the room and strengthening the emotional perception of the atmosphere.

The completely open kitchen, characterized by the presence of two large copper tandoori pots, is designed to show the public the process of preparing dishes, in line with the restaurant’s philosophy.

Seven sandstone finishes, steel and objects linked to Eastern culture draw an image of Odessa that nods to the many peoples who influenced the city over the centuries and to the strategic location of its port. The organization of the room in the shape of a star clearly refers to the topographic configuration of the city, which becomes the key to the success of the project.
