Modern log cabin in Switzerland was once old military building

This modern cabin in Switzerland was rebuilt by the architecture studio of Ralph Germann. Before the renovation, the building had a military use, but the designers transformed it into a contemporary mountain chalet. To preserve the original atmosphere, they inserted a glass box inside the cabin, allowing the old paneling to remain visible.

The cabin is compact, and from the outside it keeps a traditional character. Inside, however, the architects introduced a more modern arrangement. Wood cladding on the exterior and interior creates warmth, while the integrated fireplace adds comfort to the living area.

Although the house is not large, the interior is practical and carefully organized. Because space is limited, the architects avoided unnecessary walls while still creating defined areas for daily living.
