Cluny House in Singapore, designed by Guz Architects, shows how technology, planning and design can work together to create a comfortable, luxurious and sustainable family residence.
The house is organized around a central water court, which becomes the focal point of the project. Lush roof gardens surround the home and reinforce the sense that nature is present throughout the residence.
Sustainable strategies include photovoltaic cells, solar water heaters, passive cooling, cross ventilation and systems for collecting and reusing rainwater. Recycled teak and artificial timber add warmth while reducing reliance on less responsible materials.
Open spaces, planted roofs, water and greenery allow the tropical residence to blend closely with its surroundings. Although the home uses advanced systems, its strongest quality is the balance between technology and nature.
