Favorite: Apart from that …

As you may know, in 2013 the blog became more open to the decor community, with comments, guest posts, and shared themes among bloggers.

Today’s article follows that spirit of openness. I invite you to discover the world of Gaëlle, who runs the blog “Otherwise…” Gaëlle accepted my invitation to share one of her favorites with you.

I am delighted to post today on For Interior, and I sincerely thank Romain for inviting me.

I invite you on a trip to Amsterdam, a short journey in space but also a journey back in time. Dutch designer Marcel Wanders drew inspiration from the city’s former commercial and maritime power to design and decorate the Andaz. The lobby feels like a ship welcoming travelers, a refuge connected to the heart of the city.

A constellation of Moooi lights on the ceiling is reflected in Delft-blue wall tiles. High-backed red chairs slip between columns covered with patterns inspired by old navigation maps.

In the rooms, Marcel Wanders embraces excess and eclecticism with large-scale, surreal images and reproductions of old book pages, a reminder of the building’s past as a public library.
