A luxury spa hotel on the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico, promised a dream vacation for visitors from around the world. Who would not want to escape winter cold with sun, sand and blue sea? Those are just some of the reasons for the Caribbean island’s enduring appeal.
Spa hotel on the beach – pure relaxation under the palm trees

The W Retreat & Spa was located on the beach on the island of Vieques. Once used by the U.S. military, Vieques later became one of Puerto Rico’s most desirable Caribbean destinations. In 2011, the retreat appeared on Conde Nast Traveler’s Gold List. Blue water and many secluded beaches attract divers and surfers. The hotel’s setting and private villas, just off the coast, offered breathtaking views of the landscape. Open-air beach bars and restaurant areas added to the comfort of the stay, while pools and bathtubs offered places to swim, unwind and relax tired muscles.
Spa hotel with exotic furnishings

Each room at the spa hotel had its own concept. What they shared was an eclectic mix of modern furniture with traditional regional decorative objects and home accessories, giving the interiors an exotic character. Original fabric lanterns, hand-woven tapestries and coral-inspired lamps drew the eye. Bright accents in purple, orange and pink created the right atmosphere.
