Mattress for double bed – innovative project with practical application
The double-bed mattress, also called the Cuddle Mattress, was designed by Mehdi Mojtabavi. The project aims to provide a comfortable sleeping surface. Couples in particular are sure to enjoy it: cuddling is easier thanks to its innovative design. The designer tried to ensure comfort for the people lying on it. The mattress consists of several smaller elements covered with a flexible fabric. This allows free movement of the arms and feet. Even when another person is sleeping in the bed, each sleeper can turn easily and find a comfortable position. Pressure on the arms and legs can be avoided thanks to the mattress. The creative idea is still at the project stage, but the designer hopes to organize production in the near future.
Award-winning mattress for double bed project
The double-bed mattress project was a finalist for a 2008 Industrial Designers Society of America award. The mattress is made of polyurethane and is very ergonomic. The back remains straight. People who sleep on their stomachs often struggle to find a comfortable leg position. With this mattress, however, that is not a problem; well-being is the goal.
