Recently, at Apple's headquarters in California, CEO Tim Cook officially presented the new members of the iPhone family: the iPhone 5S and 5C. The two new models carried over much of the technical basis of the iPhone 5, which was being discontinued, but they also introduced new features and promised a significant increase in performance, especially in graphics.

The successors to the iPhone 5 were presented in different versions, but both continued the atmosphere of the 5 series. New colors were introduced for both models, making the iPhone 5S and 5C feel especially suited to the fashion-accessory role.

The iPhone 5S offered new features and an extremely comfortable grip. The smartphone was equipped with security features and a 64-bit processor. The round Home button now included a fingerprint sensor that could replace passcode entry. Apple called this system Touch ID. Several fingerprints could be stored and later recognized quickly. The screen remained 4 inches tall. The new camera had an 8-megapixel resolution and was designed to improve image quality in low light.

Another interesting feature was the M7 motion coprocessor, which evaluated data from the compass, accelerometer and gyroscope and could enable new functions.

The iPhone 5S came in silver, gold and “Space Grey”. In Germany, the iPhone 5S was available from September 20 starting at € 699. So we were looking forward to it!

The smartphone was available in five bright colors and two storage variants. Apple offered matching cases that emphasized individual style. The silicone cases were just as colorful as the smartphone and were available in black, pink, white, blue, green and yellow. The iPhone 5C used a polycarbonate body.

Technically, the model was largely based on the iPhone 5, with a 4-inch Retina display, an 8-megapixel camera and an HD front camera. Compared with the iPhone 5, the 5C was slightly thicker and a little heavier. In terms of positioning, it sat below the iPhone 5 series. The iPhone 5C, often called the “cheap iPhone,” went on sale from € 599.
