Kari Lonning: Contemporary Art Baskets

In the summer, everything is light and colorful. It draws attention the most, so that I could not do any less than fall in love with these beautiful baskets made by hand by the artist Kari Lonning. © Kari Lonning.

Kari is an expert in baskets since 1975 and today the works are exhibited as works of art, which in many prestigious collections, including the White house.

Kari Lonning studied weaving ceramics at University and went on to sensitivity to the forms. The colour and technique-interlacing is really something special. Each basket is made with thin poles of rattan, the artist self-dyes fabrics, the colors and shades that you want.

More than a normal container, his sneakers seem to be caught up in a vortex of colors. Shapes derived from the observation of nature and wild plants but also by the interest of Kari for the buildings and the architecture. Dynamic and abstract forms enhanced by the combination of the colors and the use in the same work with the different techniques of weaving.
