Lamp interactive design – Different colors injecting with syringes

Lamp Design

"Color injector" is an interactive lamp design made with Arduino components. Its color is controlled by three syringes filled with different inks. The syringes let people change the color of the light emitted by the lamp in an unconventional way. They are filled with red, green and blue ink.

Russian designer Taras Sgibnev developed this interactive product as a physical expression of how red, green and blue are used in digital interfaces to create a wide range of colors. The project demonstrates an analog approach to digital color conversion. Any color can be produced by mixing the RGB system.

The syringes are suspended under the lamp and connected to another point inside the lamp body. Tubes are used so the color and movement of the ink remain visible. The syringes inside the lamp are connected to a slide switch with an Arduino microprocessor, which controls the output color.

The LEDs are connected to a reflective cylinder so uniform light enters the translucent plastic shade. The lampshade is set between the base and the lid. The lamp can be mounted from the ceiling with the syringes facing down, or placed upside down on a table.
