More and more parents are choosing a loft bed to save space in the nursery. But what are the advantages and disadvantages, and what should you consider before buying one?
Loft beds in the nursery – from what age?

The loft bed in the nursery is often seen as an alternative to a bulky standard bed. A raised bed can create up to three meters of usable height, making room below for cabinets, a desk, a play area, or storage. This design, however, is suitable only for children from about six years old. Younger children can be injured while playing, rolling over in bed, or falling from the sleeping platform. It is also unsuitable for children who sleepwalk. For safety, the guard rail should be at least 20 cm high, and a soft rug should be placed beside the bed. Parents who take these precautions can reduce the risk of accidents. It is also wise to read the manufacturer’s safety information and, when in doubt, consult a pediatrician.
Combine individual modules – the loft bed in the nursery

Who decides the loft bed in the nursery, usually wants to use the space underneath sensibly. Depending on the model, it can become a living area or hold a storage system. A desk should ideally stand near a window rather than in a dark corner under the bed. Additional lighting is also important so children can read safely in bed. The colors of the bed should coordinate with the room: orange, green, and blue feel calming, while intense red can tire the eyes.
The DEARKIDS collection is a good example of comfort and safety combined successfully.
