Dutch designer Marcel Wanders created the eccentric interior design for Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht. This luxury hotel occupies a prominent location in central Amsterdam, between the Prinsengracht and Keizersgracht canals.
Luxury Hotel Design by Marcel Wanders

Amsterdam is known for its rich, diverse, and independent spirit. In the vibrant heart of this fascinating city, the designer wanted to integrate local traditions and history into Hotel Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht. The hotel has 122 rooms and is surrounded by the unique cultural landscape of the Prinsengracht.
Luxury hotel design with impressive features

Wanders wanted to merge his design language with the city’s heritage, as well as imagery from historical books. One of the most remarkable features is in the lobby: an installation designed like a constellation of stars and planets. Hanging objects beneath a large canopy recall models of ancient astronomy, while oversized bell-shaped covers wrap sparkling chandeliers.

The luxury hotel concept includes a restaurant, a bar, and a library, all grouped on the ground floor. The theme combines contemporary design and history, with references to the Dutch Golden Age, Delft pottery, and several of Wanders’ own designs, including the Big Ben clock, the Monster Chair, and Skygarden pendant lamps.
