Simplified installation systems mean that many floors can now be installed by homeowners themselves. Click parquet is probably one of the easiest types to lay. In addition to classic parquet, there are other forms of wood flooring, including panels with varied patterns, industrial parquet for heavy use and moisture-resistant flooring that can be installed in damp rooms such as bathrooms. Here we explain how to lay a click parquet floor at home. If you do not feel confident installing parquet yourself, you can of course hire a professional.

Click flooring is easy to install because it does not require glue. The click connections save a great deal of installation time, there is no drying time, and the floor can also be removed quickly if necessary. The following steps should be followed during installation:
Measurement and planning: The amount of flooring you need varies from room to room, so the space must first be measured carefully. Keep this rule in mind: order 5 to 10 percent more material, because boards will need to be cut and the remaining material may otherwise not be enough.
Subfloor preparation: Because the floor is installed as a floating system rather than bonded directly to the substrate, the substrate must be clean, level, dry and stable. In some cases, additional sound insulation should also be installed.

Laying click parquet: Measure the distance to the wall. Then cut the board accordingly and remember to leave a 10 mm gap from the wall. If glue is still required in some places, allow for a drying time of 24 hours.

Laying parquet: First decide on the right installation direction. As a guide, choose the lengthwise direction and consider the direction of the light. Laying the floor parallel to the light creates a cleaner appearance. It is important to use spacers during installation. They must be placed both lengthwise and crosswise. Keep at least 10 mm from the wall, because wood expands and contracts over time. This also helps compensate for irregularities in the existing wall. When you reach the end of a row, measure carefully before installing the last board.
Measure the distance from the wall, cut the board accordingly, and again remember the 10 mm wall gap. If glue is needed in a few places, plan for a drying time of 24 hours.
