Simple wall shelf with secret compartment – "Clopen" Torafu of Architects

Wood look

The latest project by Japanese studio Torafu Architects looks like an ordinary floating shelf, but it actually contains a simple secret drawer that opens with magnets. Torafu Architects previously designed a desk and a hidden shelf that looks like a bowl. The "Clopen" wall shelf with a secret compartment is manufactured by Japanese company Tanseisha.

Wall shelf with secret compartment – Compact and minimalist

Wall shelf

The shelf is made of aluminum and, with its 34 mm thick panels, looks as if it had been built from natural wood. The drawer has no handles, but opens with magnets to keep the secret hidden. The magnets are disguised as wooden key chains. When a magnet is placed near it, the 23 mm thick drawer appears, ready for storing valuables such as passports, savings books and more.
