This modern stair design is located near the waterfront in Plymouth and was designed by Gillespie Yunnie Architects. What makes the staircase special is not only its clean contemporary form, but also the integrated LED lighting, which turns the stairs into a striking evening feature.
Modern staircase design meets historic architecture in Plymouth

The modern staircase design was built beside the historic stone wall of Royal William Yard. The contemporary form and bright LED lights create a clear contrast with the old wall. The stairs not only connect the top of the wall with the ground below, but also open up a good view of the harbor.

The Royal William Yard staircase was designed with square geometric forms and a contemporary architectural language. Its highlight appears in the evening, when the project is seen at its best. LED lights on both sides of the stairs glow in different colors after dark, so the staircase can appear in blue, purple, orange, yellow or red light.
