Designed by Sydney-based Chenchow Little Architects, K House is a modern concrete-roof house that balances privacy, sunlight, and views. At first glance, the family home feels reserved: faceted concrete walls and timber screens shield the interior from the street. Behind that protective shell, however, the house opens toward the garden, Sydney Harbour, and the Harbour Bridge. The result is a private retreat for the whole family.
Flat-roof concrete house offers a protected setting
The concrete-roof house is located on the edge of Sydney Harbour in Vaucluse, on a 788m2 site with views of the city skyline and Sydney Harbour Bridge. The northern side of the property faces a sunny public walkway, so one of the main goals was to secure privacy while still bringing generous daylight into the building.
K House in Sydney – a refuge with strict geometric lines
The rigorous geometry creates a sheltered environment. To open the interior toward the garden, large sliding doors span almost the full width of the wall. The architects also introduced sliding screens and masonry surfaces lined with untreated timber.

The total living and circulation area is 533m2. From outside, K House can seem severe and closed, but inside it is comfortable, spacious, and open.
