Danks Street House was a project focused on reconstructing and modernizing the outdoor area of an Australian city home. In the courtyard, the designers created a concept that corresponds with the facade and interior. The project by COS Design received several honors, including the Australian "National Landscape of the Year" award in 2009, along with other landscape architecture awards. The design of the courtyard stands out not only for its aesthetic qualities, but also for its functionality. See for yourself.
Danks Street – Innovative Landscape Architecture in Australia

The design of the Danks Street courtyard is surprisingly compact and simple, yet distinctive, environmentally conscious and highly usable. There is no trace of the old uncomfortable yard. In its place is a stylish, multifunctional outdoor room.

The aim of the project was to make the narrow courtyard feel larger and visually connect it with the home. The patios are densely planted. Tall bamboo groups create a sense of generosity and act as a screen. Gravel-covered areas lend the floor a natural texture. The outdoor materials relate to the building’s architecture, respect the environment and help create a healthy atmosphere.

The courtyard includes a three-level water feature and cleverly integrated storage. Custom seating with built-in storage was designed around the client’s needs and is ideal for comfortable outdoor sitting. The terrace also has a barbecue, while carefully placed lighting enhances the unique atmosphere.
