When designers think outside the box, the result is often a flexible design with an interesting, unusual shape. Furniture and industrial designer Bradley Bowers clearly thought outside the box when he created his own idea of a designer OSB bookcase. The Indra shelf unit takes the traditional wall corner shelf and turns it into a dynamic part of the living space.
Bookcase with an asymmetrical shape

It can stand in the middle of the room and function as a room divider. With a little distance from the wall, the shelves are easily accessible from both sides. This is not only a functional piece of furniture, but also an eye-catcher in your living environment. Indra moves through the room like the stories in the books it holds. Created in response to the strict forms of traditional shelves and living rooms, Indra brings movement back into the room.
Indra shelf design with the visually appealing texture of OSB

The designer was looking for a material that would complement the Indra concept. This geometric design bookcase is made of OSB (oriented strand board), which has unique structural properties and an appealing visual texture. These coarse particle boards were originally a waste product of the plywood industry, yet they have unique structural and visual qualities. The natural pattern of overlapping wood chips complements Indra's changing angles and gives the bookcase another layer of movement and dynamism.
