With its high level of environmental sustainability, Green Studio by Fraher Architects impresses through the creativity, originality and inspiration of its concept. Completed in October 2013 in southeast London, Green Studio is a modern earth-sheltered building: a creative office with a residential character.
Living and working in Green Studio by Fraher Architects
Green Studio is located in front of Butterfly House by Fraher Architects and offers comfortable workspaces within a home-like environment. The shape and orientation of the building respond to the natural conditions of the site. Based on environmental analysis, the architects used sunlight to maximize natural light while minimizing the impact of neighboring buildings.
Modern earth-sheltered building with a sustainable concept
The unique, modern Green Studio is earth-sheltered from the outside. Its robust stainless-steel cladding blends with the surrounding nature, while a series of light openings strengthens the connection between interior and exterior. A green roof and planters with wild vegetation help replace the natural habitat lost during construction.
A creative interior design
The different zones are arranged across half-levels. Sister practice Fraher + Co designed all the furniture. High-quality materials and high-performance windows with excellent insulation support a healthy, creative working environment. The eco-conscious design also includes a natural ventilation strategy.
A new passive-house concept
Green Studio offers ideas for commercial and residential buildings, as well as social housing with gardens and a strategy for the sustainable use of natural resources. With adaptable architectural solutions, the young design-oriented team at Fraher Architects responds to contemporary requirements.
