It is true that sometimes, to create something beautiful you need very little.
A taste for adventure and a trusted companion are enough. This is the story of photographer Alice van Kempen , who since 1998 has been creating exciting projects with her dog, a bull terrier named Claire.
The bull terrier Claire
Alice has always been enthusiastic about abandoned places and her dog, Claire is an ideal adventure companion: calm, quiet, and curious.
Abandoned places seen through different eyes
Together they explore abandoned places in Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands: hospitals, palaces, castles, houses, churches, military bases, trains, planes, and farms that society has definitively forgotten.

Many of these places have been abandoned for more than 40 years, their furniture and objects marked by time, decay, and neglect.
These desolate settings are places that the photographer brings back to life with the help of Claire, her well-behaved bull terrier. Placed among the objects in each frame, the dog creates a balance between past and present and lends the scenes an almost human presence.
