Man Machine is a limited-edition collection of glass furniture by Konstantin Grcic for Galerie kreo in Paris. Presented in 2014, the collection has a striking architectural look, precise lines, and a mechanical character. The pieces are made primarily from glass, including the chair.

Grcic approached the project by focusing on a material more often associated with architecture than furniture. Glass can seem cold, heavy, or fragile, yet it is also one of the defining materials of contemporary interiors. In Man Machine, transparent panels are combined with visible mechanisms, turning the furniture into functional objects with a technical, almost kinetic presence.
Glass furniture inspired by Kraftwerk’s The Man-Machine
The collection takes its name from Kraftwerk’s 1978 album. Gas pistons, hinges, cranks, and other moving parts allow the objects to perform: the chair’s backrest can be adjusted, the round table can fold, and the large table can be raised or lowered. The pieces are made from tempered glass joined with silicone and were produced in limited editions of eight per model.
