Additional basement on a slope

Who says a house cannot be built on a slope? Here, the change in ground level is handled with an additional lower floor surrounded by glass.

In 2014, the house was selected by the Royal Institute of British Architects as one of 23 standout new homes in Britain and longlisted for the Manser Medal, an annual award for the best architect-designed new house in the UK.
