Decoration for the Garden and Terrace: Step-by-Step Guide

Terraces

Step 1 Shape the wire mesh into a cylinder. Wear gloves while fastening it to avoid injuries from sharp edges. You can use a slightly smaller pot as a guide. Make sure the cylinder matches the inner diameter of the flower pot that will serve as the base.

Step 2 Overlap the two ends of the wire mesh and secure them with cable ties. Pull the ties firmly so the tower stays stable when filled. Make sure the cylinder fits inside the selected flower pot. If you want to reduce the height, trim it with scissors.

Step 3 Wrap the landscape fabric around the wire mesh to measure how much you need. Cut the fabric with scissors, then push it inside the tower. Smooth it along the inner wall. Trim the excess at the top, leaving about 5 cm of overlap.

Step 4 Use a knife to make small cuts in the fabric just below the metal rim. Cut through both layers of fabric at every third opening in the wire mesh. Then thread cable ties through the slits and secure them to the wire.

Step 5 Fill one-third of the tower with potting soil. Add water, then continue filling to two-thirds and water again.

Step 6 Use a garden shovel to fill the gap around the flower tower. To create planting holes, cut a vertical and a horizontal slit in the fabric to form a small plus sign. Place a flower through each opening. Leave the bottom row just above the soil without holes so the plants can cascade over the edge of the container.

Step 7 Now it is time to plant the flowers. Make a small space behind the fabric with your finger at each opening. Gently push the plant or seedling into the space. It should fit snugly, but do not force it.
