We present a remarkable modern house by Oost-Egeon Architecten on Reed Island, a strong example of sustainable architecture. It was built in Tamariskhof on the artificial Reed Island in Ljburg Oost, a residential area in eastern Amsterdam, and extends over 3 floors with a total area of 224 m².
Modern townhouse on Reed Island by Oost-Egeon Architecten
Wood remains a popular cladding material. The modern town house, with its wooden exterior, was designed to keep a strong connection with the landscape. Vertical and horizontal board profiles are combined successfully here. Wood paneling is popular in ecological construction because it looks good, helps keep the home warm, offers insulation, and is relatively inexpensive.
Modern town house offers simple comfort
The architects took a non-traditional approach to the eco-friendly house and added a number of modern elements. The first residential floor has a comfortable lounge with floor-to-ceiling glazing, a kitchen, and a dining room with classic furniture design and simple furnishings. Large sliding glass doors open to the garden. The second level contains a living room with an open kitchen and bedrooms, while a comfortable home office in the modern town house enjoys panoramic views of the lake.

The modern city villa by Egeon Architecten is equipped with air-conditioning and heat pumps, natural ventilation, heat-resistant glazing, and underfloor heating. The green roof completes the overall impression of an efficient, sustainable ecological house in wood.
