A sustainable design from Vietnam has recently produced a pavilion made of exotic bamboo. The pavilion is part of the new cultural center in Ha Tinh.
Bamboo pavilion – traditional construction techniques from Vietnam
Tradition plays a major role in Vietnam. The local population has a close relationship with nature, and this is also visible in the architecture. The architects at H & P were inspired by the country's traditional construction techniques and developed a bamboo pavilion for the new cultural center. The pavilion was built from bamboo, stone, and clay. Its open design can accommodate many people. The center offers various courses, and the pavilion works well as a meeting place for students and teachers, artists, and craftsmen. Located in the central courtyard, the pavilion opens onto both the garden and the street. Thanks to the creative design, natural ventilation is possible, and abundant light fills the interior. Bamboo benches complete the overall concept.

The cultural center supports interactive learning experiences. With this in mind, the architects created several small seating areas where people can talk in groups. The bamboo roof provides protection from rain and bad weather, while the small green garden feels relaxing. It is a bamboo pavilion, which looks exotic while also being very practical. The use of local materials saved a great deal of money. In recent years, local building materials have often been used to reduce construction costs, especially in developing countries.
