We have already talked about the emerald-green trend, but another look was also gaining ground for 2015: home accessories in brass and copper. They were once treated like gold’s awkward relatives, and brass in particular was popular in the 1970s before losing favor in the 1980s. Today, though, these warm metallic finishes feel fresh again, and they can bring an appealing glow into interiors.
Hot metallic luster at home – elements in brass and copper
Any metallic finish can add charm to a room when you choose the right decorative pieces. The best thing about copper and brass is that they offer some of the glamour of gold, often at a lower price. Many modern designs are already available, and because these metals were popular decades ago, vintage shops and flea markets can also be good sources.
The return of brass and copper
Furnishings in brass and copper appear in several major design collections. As noted above, even a small touch of copper can create a glamorous effect. Look for decorative pieces such as picture frames, candleholders, lamps, and wall accents. If the budget allows, a brass chandelier can become a dramatic focal point.
