House with a pool: modern architecture in the heart of Mexico
This modern house with a pond combines traditional design elements from Mexico. The color, layout, and even the rough appearance of the exterior walls were chosen to harmonize with the surrounding buildings. Architects Reyes Rios and Larrain opted for an open design that makes access to the garden easy. The garden itself is a peaceful modern oasis, where water plays a central role. Two ponds in the garden offer refreshment in the Mexican heat: one sits just below the bedroom windows, while the other is an interesting mix of narrow pool and planted pond. The one-story building has an external staircase leading to the roof terrace, where residents can enjoy the beautiful view. The richly glazed facade allows plenty of sun and air into the house, and two large sliding doors open the living room to the garden. The rough appearance of the walls fits naturally into the wild landscape.
House with a pond and a cozy interior
The interior of the house can be described as minimalist. The beds are set into concrete frames, and nothing disturbs the view: no unnecessary furniture and no excessive decoration. In the living room, wooden furniture, a fireplace, and a comfortable lounge area are combined. Throughout the house, the architects chose indirect lighting, which subtly highlights the interior details of the house with a pond in the garden. The walls are covered with the same rough finish inside and outside, visually connecting the different areas.
