San Lorenzo is a modern house in Los Angeles, California, designed by Mike Jacobs Architecture and completed in 2012. The house responds to its surrounding landscape through a careful plan of gardens, glass, and open living spaces. The main living room has high ceilings and generous use of glass and steel, while the more private areas are enclosed with stucco and cedar.

After a careful zoning study, the architects organized the house with two interlocking L-shaped volumes. The first is an open steel-and-glass enclosure that contains the communal areas: garden, pool, living rooms, and home theater. The second is a more opaque stucco-and-cedar enclosure that holds the private bedrooms and service spaces. A large open living room is the focal point of the plan. Pocket sliding doors open the south wall to the garden, while north-facing windows fold away to connect the interior with the golf-course views.

These large sliding windows and doors passively cool the house and pull fresh air deep into the rooms, creating natural ventilation. A formal stair connects the terraced living spaces with the outdoor areas and the home theater below. Secondary stairs provide access to the private rooms and service areas, creating several points of entry and a constant exchange between living spaces.
