Monteverdi is a rustic hotel that evokes the feeling of traveling into the past. The lodge in Castiglioncello Trinoro, Italy, is the result of a collaboration between interior designer Ilaria Miani and architect Ernesto Bartolini of DA Studio. The resort is located in the historic heart of the Val d'Orcia, where empty houses abandoned for many years have been restored and opened to guests.
This rustic boutique hotel

In the medieval village of Castiglioncello Trinoro, many buildings of historical and cultural value have been restored and now shine with renewed beauty. The destination is still not widely known among vacationers, but it is well worth discovering. Some of Europe's most famous vineyards and wineries are found here, and anyone looking for art surrounded by nature will be drawn to the place's quiet magic.
A project for the preservation of historical and cultural heritage

Driven by a passion for history and for preserving natural and cultural heritage, Michael Cioffi, an American lawyer and law professor, began restoring the semi-abandoned medieval village with the sensitivity such a special place requires.

The restoration was planned so that the original architecture would not be altered. It began in 2004 with the purchase of a property in urgent need of renovation, and the project gradually brought new life to the village. The work was expected to culminate in summer 2015 with the opening of the Monteverdi hotel. The resort includes three houses and a recently restored 12th-century chapel. The rustic hotel offers seven Tuscan-style rooms, along with breathtaking views of the green valley and outdoor pool.

Craftsmen, sculptors and builders from the region helped bring the project to life. The goal was to transform Monteverdi and its surroundings into a retreat for intellectual and cultural life. Local materials such as granite, Carrara marble and reclaimed wood give the spaces an authentic character. The hotel reveals Ilaria Miani's distinctive style: eclectic in taste, yet sensitive to simplicity.
Medieval-style hotel in the middle of nature

Surrounded by vineyards and close to the impressive Italian gardens of La Foce, Monteverdi has the charm of rustic Tuscan style. The hotel has an inviting lobby with a beautiful, elegant atmosphere. The rooms within the three villas offer modern comforts and air conditioning after the careful restoration. Their simple, elegant style highlights preserved beams, floors and stone walls that are characteristic of the village. For anyone dreaming of relaxing under the Tuscan sun, this is a perfect retreat.
