
The first edition of the National Architecture Award Bar e Ristoranti d’Autore was promoted by IN/ARCH, Gambero Rosso, the Faculty of Architecture at Roma Tre University, Artribune, and Archilovers, with the patronage of Fiera Milano.
The award was hosted on Archilovers and received 226 built works and 3 theses. The jury, chaired by Paolo Desideri of ABDR, selected five winning projects completed in Italy between 2008 and 2013, recognizing both the client and the designer.
Winning Built Works
- Bancovino, gourmet shop and winery in Rome, designed by -scape architects for Bancovino. The project was recognized for turning a very small space into a flexible setting that changes from day to evening.
- Decumanus Caffè in Florence, designed by Mimesi62 Architetti Associati, Domenico Pagnano, and Lorenzo Liverani for Caffè Decumanus. The project draws on Florence’s urban memory and material layers.
- MAD Magazzini Donnafugata Wine Bar in Ragusa, designed by Architrend for Cum Ibla. The project was praised for inserting a contemporary function into a historic context with careful material contrasts.
- Porto Fluviale, restaurant, pizzeria, and café in Rome, designed by Roberto Liorni and team for Fluviale srl. The conversion of an industrial space gives food and hospitality a strong urban atmosphere.
- Princi Bakery in Milan, designed by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel Interiors for Princi. The project was noted for its precise interpretation of a metropolitan bakery.

- Oleoteca in Seggiano, Val d’Orcia, by Giuseppe “Mao” Benedetti and team for the Municipality of Seggiano.
- The Cube Milano, travelling restaurant, by Park Associati for Electrolux.
- Vyta Santa Margherita Milano, by Daniela Colli for Retail Food s.r.l.
The jury also recognized the thesis Oksigene by Silvia Buonocore for its research into environmental sustainability and the culture of food production and transformation.
The award ceremony was scheduled for 15 September 2014 in Milan, during HOMI.
