Chaise-longue

The Tokyo outdoor chaise longue was originally designed in 1940 and finally put into production years later. Breathtaking in its natural simplicity, it is surprising that this design was not built earlier. As with unreleased recordings by musicians that appear after their death, however, this kind of delayed release happens in other creative fields as well.

In this case, the Tokyo outdoor chaise longue was designed by the legendary French designer Charlotte Perriand during the period when she lived and worked in Japan. It was a bamboo reinterpretation of Cassina’s famous LC4 chaise longue. The result is a poetic synthesis of rationalism and nature. Cassina now offers the design in different types of wood: bamboo, teak, and beech.

Tokyo has a natural, curvy, and welcoming shape. The deck chair consists of 12 curved wooden strips. The design is available with colorful cushions, water-draining polyurethane padding, and a stain-resistant polyester coating. The outdoor lounger is ideal for terraces and open-air spaces. Its sculptural presence would beautifully complement any home or garden.

All elements have been combined in perfect harmony by Cassina and can be enjoyed on a veranda, terrace, patio, or in the garden. The vitality of this timeless classic is expressed with authenticity. These are not rigid museum pieces, but human works of art that can be reinterpreted continuously. They create a balanced synergy between culture and nature.
