Casa Luna: A Tailor-Made Dress from the Double-Soul

The house of the moon is the latest project from Buratti Architects in Nerviano (MI), and by the will of the owner was transformed into an apartment on two floors. Unfinished with only the outer walls, in the new house designed to measure, it is based on needs and passions.

To dedicate the relationship with the customer is almost always from a long list of wishes, which, as in this case, are often oversized: a large living room with a place to eat, with many friends, a bedroom with a very important area, clothing, to receive a bar-lounge-cinema, guests space and finally a small Wellness area with a swimming pool.
Even if he seemed to be beginning to be too much for the space we had, and wherein each of the requests was a challenge for the design, we were able to interpret them and to find for each, the size and the scale of the law in the context of the project: at the end of the project the house was full and all the wishes were tailored for the customer, like a tailor-made suit.

In contrast to our other experiences, such as some of the houses are from the processing of the old industrial areas, in which the generosity of the dimensions, twice the height of the window, in particular, have helped us with the mechanisms of the spatial distribution and space for the house of the environment. In this case, we have instead worked on the small size, on the articulation and on the mechanisms that the free spaces are linked together, as in a narrative of continuous parts of a complex system and not linear.

Even more than in other projects, it is necessary to be very clear and precise, from the cut of the functional design of the various elements that identify them; it is designed to meet all the needs of the customer, the advantage of almost manic attention in the choice of materials and attention to every detail.

The house has a double soul, which consists of two floors: the ground floor is bright and open to the outside, receives all of the traditional features, the living room, the kitchen, the bedroom and bathroom; in the basement there is a kind of bunker is more intimate, closed and dark, with a large relaxation area where you can escape and relax on the large couch to watch a movie on the big cinema screen, read a book in the alcove, in the forest, or enjoy a dip in the pool.

From the front door, you are welcomed into a very compressed hallway. After the passage of this first room, you get into the heart of the house, the living room. It is dominated by a totem-sculpture of iron, crude and includes open-hearth fireplace and TV.
All of the ground floor rooms as a composition are connected to each other, and it is never clearly separated, divisible, if necessary, with the directions of the movement.
Node point on the ground floor, is the volume of the large glass shower, opal, it separates the day from the zone in the night and switches the lamp, with a panoramic view from any altitude and changes color due to the special shower head RGB: the attraction of the space of life and a symbol for the element in the bedroom.
In addition to the lamp-shower in the night, a place more intimate and private, the house, conceived as a sequence of user-defined specialty, divided into three separate rooms, bedrooms, wardrobe and bathroom.

If the different parts are connected horizontally together by the volume of the shower that is perpendicular to the two floors of the house states that by a staircase with steps that are in the overhang, and from the fifth up to twice the height of the glass, this article combines the two souls of the house, a very different mood and functions.

Down the stairs, in a zone very special, an underground room. Closed and picturesque where the walls, the floor and the ceiling are processed in the cement-resin-gray color. In this environment crude, black and white fits with the bright volume of the swimming pool like a large glass of cases in which the water creates scenarios of different color.

In most of our projects, the research on the colors, the shapes and the contrasts are very important."
