Casa Lomas II is a renovation project by Paola Calzada Arquitectos. The large family home, located in Lomas de Chapultepec in Mexico City, was originally built in 1976 and already had a forward-looking modern character. With its flat roof and broad windows, the house opens toward the garden while a high concrete wall protects it from the street. It is a beautiful
modern family home,
but the original layout did not make the most of the site. The architects were asked to create a more open dialogue and a smoother connection between house and garden.
Modern house with a glass facade opening onto the garden
First, the architects created a smoother transition between the two floors. On the ground floor, an open-plan living area brings together the kitchen, dining room, and lounge. Large floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors connect the interior with the exterior. A small spiral staircase leads upstairs to the bedrooms and bathrooms, while the private area remains protected from the street by concrete walls. This is a
modern family home, where the family can enjoy being together.
Modern detached house with new furniture in neutral tones
The interiors are furnished with clean-lined modern pieces and a calm palette of neutral colors. Beige and olive green create a cozy atmosphere and give the interior a visual connection to the garden. Decorative pillows, hand-woven rugs with an oriental influence, opulent chandeliers, and selected furnishings add color and character to the rooms.
