This holiday house with pool, called PL2, is located in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. Come with us on a virtual tour of this lush retreat.
A pool house open to the landscape

Instead of maximizing indoor living space, the owners chose to create a generous terrace. In summer, the warm sun and outdoor views are the main attraction, so they commissioned Seijo Peon Arquitectos y Asociados to create a seamless connection between inside and outside. Large sliding glass doors lead from the lounge to the pool terrace. A broad canopy protects the outdoor dining area from strong sun and casts pleasant, dappled shade, while tall palm trees screen the terrace from view so residents can relax in privacy.
Holiday house interior in a modern country style

Inside, the holiday home with pool is just as appealing. The villa has a compact, minimalist structure. The individual areas are not visually separated; instead, they flow smoothly into one another. The kitchen connects naturally with the living area and bedroom, and only a wall separates the bedroom from the bathroom. The architects deliberately omitted doors so the interior would feel open and welcoming. Rustic wooden furniture softens the modern house, while wood-paneled walls and carefully chosen decorative pieces make the rooms feel warm.
