The modern "Hill Country Residence" by Cornerstone Architects was built in a rural area of Austin, Texas, and completed in 2011. Set into a gentle hillside, the house overlaps with the natural landscape and uses a generous roof terrace and rooftop pool to frame panoramic views. Its contemporary character is balanced by natural materials that give the facade a warm, secure feeling.
Modern Residence with Warm Wood Cladding

The modern residence sits partly into the slope and is surrounded by lush vegetation. The arrangement of the rooms protects privacy from the street while opening beautiful views toward nature and the Austin skyline. On the roof terrace, the pool turns those views into a spectacular outdoor experience.
Modern Residence with an Eco-Conscious Spatial Concept

The structure combines local limestone, concrete, wood, and high-performance glazing. Sustainable features include geothermal heating and cooling, rainwater harvesting, spray-foam insulation, and carefully designed roof overhangs for passive solar protection. The owners wanted a warm residential atmosphere with a contemporary flow, and the result is a balanced, sustainable home that reflects modern living. Stained wood and natural stone reinforce the feeling of comfort and security, while the living room remains open and bright. Gray tones are energized with accents of orange, red, and lime green.
