Concrete House

Modern Villa by Daniel Lane extends across a semi-natural site about 17 feet above sea level in Sagaponack, NY. The impressive project was inspired by the iconic "Perlbinder House" (1970) by architect Norman Jaffe and the "wall" House (1979) by Tod Williams, and was designed by the architecture firm Makoid Blaze.

Townhouse

The motivated team of architects wanted to build a modern structure that met the owner’s high requirements for a pleasant stay on the coast. From a distance, the modern Villa seems simple and clear. The elegant travertine-clad facade is especially striking, while the exterior is kept in dark brown. Generous glazing opens the house toward the beach.

Architecture

Modern Villa by Daniel Lane offers comfortable living on two levels, along with a large terrace, swimming pool, and welcoming outdoor lounge. The functional areas and living spaces are on the ground floor. The facades facing the pool and beach are glazed from floor to ceiling. The two-story entrance forms the main structure here. Upstairs are the family’s private rooms – a spacious bedroom with a large balcony and beautiful views of the surrounding area, plus three children’s rooms.

The theme of light is also reflected in the interior design. Concrete floors, Calcutta marble, and whitewashed oak contribute to a reduced, modern look. Inside, bright walls are combined with concrete floors, dark surfaces, and transparent glass. The highlight is the impressive cantilevered staircase with glass balustrades.
