The architects at Tengbom have designed a small dwelling that can be used as a compact apartment for students. With an area of only 10 square meters, the cottage was presented at the Virserum Art Museum in Sweden.
Accommodation for students – small but very practical furnished
The small apartment for students is an affordable and environmentally friendly option, designed by the talented architects at Tengbom in collaboration with wood manufacturer Martinsons and the real estate company AF Bostäder. The concept is clear: provide an affordable alternative to student dormitories. Students in Lund who want to live independently in a furnished apartment will appreciate this opportunity. In 2014, 22 units were planned for the university campus. Despite the modest living space, the small house lacks almost nothing: a comfortable sleeping area, kitchen, bathroom, and even a small garden with terrace are planned for residents' convenience. Thanks to the use of natural materials, the environment is protected. Material choices significantly reduce construction costs, and the rent is therefore reduced by 50%.
Small Student Apartment – ecological and cheap
The small apartment for students is made from several prefabricated components that are assembled on site. The house is built exclusively from local woods, which saves money on transportation. The light wood makes the interior look more spacious. Several green elements add accents to the interior design. The apartment consists of a living area that also contains a small kitchen and dining space. A hammock offers a place to rest, and a small desk near the window provides a comfortable study area. Books can be stored under the stairs leading to the second level, where there is a comfortable sleeping place. Comfortable, highly innovative, and ecological: that is how this small apartment can be described.
