We present a charming idea for enjoying a holiday in the countryside: take inspiration from interior designer Scott Newkirk and spend time in a cabin in the woods.
Cabin in the woods for relaxing in the middle of nature

During the work week, stylist Scott Newkirk is always on the go. One day he works behind the scenes at fashion shows in New York; another day he consults with clients and guides renovations. But on weekends in spring and summer, he goes to his cabin in the woods. There is no electricity, no TV, no computer and not even running water. There he feels free, can sleep late and can swim in warm weather in the nearby river.
Cabin in the woods – practical setup in a small space

Newkirk drew sketches for the cabin in the woods in 2003. The cabin is modest in size, but it took two years to finish. Built from recycled wood, with a balcony and a terrace paved with stone slabs, the building has a traditional rustic look. Large windows open the house to its surroundings, while sliding glass doors connect the interior with the exterior. Inside, the compact space is carefully arranged: a practical living area is located on the first floor and a comfortable sleeping area with a beautiful view is above. Decorative vases, pictures and country-style objects were partly designed by the owner and partly bought. The toilet and bathroom are located outdoors. It is a wonderful retreat where you can relax and unwind.
