This house in Japan offers a creative architectural solution: two solid volumes support a glazed living area that opens toward the surrounding landscape. The result is simple, strong, and highly effective, combining a robust structure with a light-filled glass facade.
A Solid House With A Glass Front
Designed by mA-style architects, the house is located in Fujieda, Shizuoka Prefecture, in a quiet area with views toward fields and distant mountains. The architects wanted to soften the boundary between inside and outside, so they divided the house into two more enclosed structural blocks and a transparent central volume that frames the view.
The space below the elevated glass volume can be used for parking, while the more private functions are placed in the solid blocks. Bedrooms, the kitchen, bathroom, and circulation areas are connected by stairs and openings that create an engaging play of light and shadow.
A Solid Structure With A Minimalist Interior
The interior follows the same restrained concept. White surfaces, glossy finishes, and carefully placed openings keep the rooms bright and visually calm. The kitchen is compact and practical, with built-in appliances and a small island that leaves enough room for easy movement.
A small Japanese-style garden adds softness to the concrete and glass composition. In the evening, recessed ceiling lights emphasize the clean lines of the house and give the minimalist rooms a warmer atmosphere.
