27/08/2012 – In projects such as Appartamento AL, Ristorante Lacucina, and the summer residence in Pozzolo, Archiplan Studio has developed a path of research that brings architecture, design, and process into synthesis.
The studio seeks to hold two worlds together: the old and the new. Its work looks for a balance that preserves the identity of both, keeping light and shadow in their ambiguity and plurality without allowing one to overpower the other. The precision of the day and the sensuality of the night are held together by a narrative that becomes form, capable of sustaining a degree of ambiguity. Rigorous precision is set beside imperfect elements, where the action of time gives matter an unusual energy.
It is an architecture that investigates the imperfect and deepens the rules of poetry as a way of speaking. Beauty is everywhere and is not tied only to the intrinsic value of a material. It can be found in fragments, in suggestive forms, and in the relationships between things.
For Archiplan Studio, relationships are central to the design process. The way things are placed in relation to one another can generate new knowledge and new beauty. The studio often works by holding opposites together: strength and fragility, perfect and imperfect, the polished shine of a piece of furniture fresh from the factory and the unpredictability of worn material. Each project becomes a path and an attempt to synthesize these questions.
