Perhaps this is the secret ingredient in Sarah Harvey’s painting: she photographs herself swimming in the pool, following precise instructions for light, weather, and position. She then selects the most interesting images for their reflections and water effects, which, almost like an expressionist painting, sometimes hide and sometimes amplify the features of the face and body. She paints them: an unusual and original technique with striking results.
