Vipp: A Luxury Container House

Vipp is a Danish design brand famous for its precise, elegant household objects, beginning with the iconic pedal bin. With the Vipp Shelter, the company scaled that industrial design language up into a 55-square-meter prefabricated house of steel and glass, set in a wild landscape of bare trees and a silent lake.

The shelter uses the same kind of steel precision associated with Vipp’s smaller products. The brand’s DNA is visible everywhere, from the kitchen and bathroom modules to the stove, table, lamps and, of course, the classic pedal bin. The idea was to design not only the outer shell, but the entire living experience.

Everything is planned down to the millimeter. The customer mainly chooses where to install the plug-and-play retreat, which can be assembled in a few days in many different settings. The price was around 600,000 dollars, excluding transport.

The Vipp Shelter is less a traditional cottage than a complete industrial object for living: compact, functional and highly designed.

The residence can sleep up to four people. It includes a mezzanine bedroom, space for two people on the lower level, a bathroom, kitchen and living area. The minimalist design is industrial in character, but focused on comfort and function.
