Boontje treats crystal as atmosphere rather than simple ornament. The alpine scenery pays tribute to Swarovski’s Tyrolean roots in Wattens, near Innsbruck, where snow, ice, and reflected light are central to the winter imagination.
The wider Swarovski winter story is also connected to Boontje’s celebrated crystal-tree collaboration with fashion designer Alexander McQueen, a work that helped turn the language of crystal into something closer to fantasy and narrative.
