Powder-coating companies typically have large amounts of paint residue that they can no longer use. An Israeli designer has found a new use for it – and has developed a new technology for dyes derived from recycled paint. The idea is not only environmentally friendly, but also decorative. Different colors are mixed during the manufacturing process, and the resulting dyes can add colorful accents indoors or simply give old furniture a new glow.
Recycled dyes – an environmentally friendly alternative that saves money and resources

Recycled dyes are an eco-friendly alternative that can save significant resources. Shahar Kagan, a product designer in Tel Aviv, Israel, created special vessels in which paint residue can be collected and stored. At the end of each day, the remaining colors are simply poured in and left to dry. The manufacturing process can be adjusted through changes in temperature, humidity, and UV exposure. Each day, a new color is added to the mixture; after up to six months, the material is ready. About 1,000 layers of color are used to produce 4.5 kg of material. The wait is worth it: the new material is extremely durable and can withstand impact and cold water.
Recycled dyes update old furniture

The material, called Fossil, is very hard in its raw state and must be cut with a laser. The objects shown here demonstrate the variety of possible applications. Different processing techniques can be used to create spray paints, so antique furniture or walls can also be decorated. Even simple furniture can quickly become the highlight of the room when sprayed with color. Recycled dyes protect the environment and bring fresh energy indoors. We are absolutely delighted with this innovative concept.
